Kaeo Lopez is one of two brothers leading New Breed Kauai as a 3rd degree certified Black Belt under Professor Johnny Ramirez. Born in 1979 on Kauai, his focus was mainly on surfing along with other ocean actives passed on from his Dad and Uncles. In school, Kaeo got into many fights, mostly standing up to bullies. In July of 1996, with encouragement from his Uncle Titus, Kaeo took up Jiu Jitsu in an attempt to keep in shape for surfing. This was the start of his life-long passion for a sport that would shape him into the type of man he is today. He started in a garage in Kapaa under KaMole Jiu Jitsu. Although he was the smallest and youngest in the class, his determination and perfect training partner, his brother Kaleo, helped him improve and advance quickly. Within months, he won his first Gold medal in Gi for the 1996 Reason Gracie International Tournament.
His Jiu Jitsu career took off from there and in 2004 he received his Black Belt. Also in 2004, he began instructing Jiu Jitsu and mixed martial arts and a few years later, was leading the entire school alongside his brother under New Breed Jiu Jitsu. In recent years, after becoming a husband and father to three young children, Kaeo has focused more on teaching than competing, helping to raise a new generation of Jiu Jitsu champions.
